DearMKE launches n ew five-video series

Video vignettes to be released bi-monthly throughout 2019

MILWAUKEE – (Jan. 18, 2019) DearMKE will be releasing videos for the first time since its inception in 2012. Produced by local video production agency Take 7 Productions, the five-video series will kick off on January 18 and will release bi-monthly videos throughout the year.

“DearMKE is once again creating original video content to showcase the wonderfully random people, events, and organizations that make Milwaukee a place to fall in love with,” said Paul Upchurch, president and CEO of VISIT Milwaukee. “The DearMKE initiative was designed to showcase what locals love about our city, and this new video series continues on that mission.”

DearMKE began as a community collaboration spearheaded by VISIT Milwaukee with the intention to inspire Milwaukeeans to share their love letter to their city. The project began with fourteen original videos about everything from the Riverwest 24, a community-run 24-hour bike race, to the masked Milwaukee-originated wrestling event, Mondo Luncha. Since 2012, DearMKE has transformed into a social media platform that reaches nearly 60-thousand people and helps amplify the love for Milwaukee by showcases photos by members of the Milwaukee community.

“We were fortunate to collaborate with the VISIT Milwaukee and DearMKE team on this series of video vignettes,” said Jordan Larson, producer and partner at Take 7 Productions. “Milwaukee has a genuine heartwarming quality that is paralleled by few . We are honored to live, work, and create here.”

The first video subject will be Milwaukee dancer, choreographer, musician, teacher, and positive Milwaukee role model Christopher Gilbert, known locally as “Chris G.”

“I was humbled to be a part of this project,” said Gilbert. “It was a chance for me to project some good energy and spread nothing but positivity and invest love into this community.”

Additional videos will be released throughout the year on DearMKE’s social media channels and with the hashtag #DearMKE.

“We hope these vignettes encourage members of our community to create photos and videos of Milwaukee through their eyes and share them with DearMKE via social media,” said Upchurch. “There’s no better way to experience the city than through the lens of a local.”
