As part of a three-day tour in partnership with Black Meetings & Tourism, 14 meeting planners will experience Milwaukee’s venues, restaurants, hotels, transportation, and attractions
VISIT Milwaukee is proud to welcome 14 prominent Black meeting planners this week to showcase the best of the city while inspiring them to book their forthcoming meetings in Milwaukee. This familiarity tour is hosted in partnership with Black Meetings & Tourism, an award-winning trade publication for and about the $40 billion African-American group, leisure, and meetings market.
From September 20-22, VISIT Milwaukee’s marketing and sales team will show the planners around the city, highlighting a number of hotels, attractions, restaurants, and Milwaukee icons to illustrate the breadth of world-class accommodations, venues, and amenities they and their attendees can experience. Stops include the Wisconsin Center District properties with a focus on the Wisconsin Center expansion, American Family Field, America’s Black Holocaust Museum, Bronzeville, Deer District, Bradford Beach, Henry Maier Festival Park, Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, among others.
“We’re thrilled to welcome this group of top-tier planners to show them all Milwaukee has to offer. These planners represent events with attendance ranging from 50-10,000, which will ultimately generate significant economic impact for our community, as well as a chance to introduce our city to diverse visitors,” says Peggy Williams-Smith, president and CEO of VISIT Milwaukee. “Attracting more travelers of color is a key priority for my team. I know Milwaukee’s hospitality community is as proud as we are to roll out the red carpet for this stellar group.”
The planners in attendance are looking to book meetings in 2022 through 2024 and have already expressed interest in booking in Milwaukee. They represent businesses and organizations such as Habitat for Humanity International; National Organization of Black Elected Legislative Women; Delta Sigma Theta; NAACP; Edible Arrangements; and Ford Motor Company.
"We are excited to be here," Black Meetings & Tourism said in a statement. "We know Milwaukee is sure to be a great destination for meetings and events!"
Many community leaders with ties to the groups the planners represent have been invited to help welcome the group at various stops along the tour.
Interview opportunities are available with both VISIT Milwaukee leadership and Black Meetings & Tourism. Please email Claire Koenig (ckoenig@milwaukee.org) if you’d like to schedule an interview.
