1997
What makes working at VISIT Milwaukee special?
All the chances to help visitors find fun experiences tailored to their interests!
What is something fun about you?
I play hand bells, and sing in my church band (I play the avocado)
What do you consider a "can't miss" Milwaukee experience?
Watch the sun rise over Lake Michigan, watch the sun set again from a boat on the lake; in between, tour the Pabst Mansion and the Milwaukee Art Museum, pet the sturgeon at Discovery World, fight for your right to push the rattlesnake button at the Milwaukee Public Museum and then go read a book in the Milwaukee Public Library (maybe see a TikTok filmed there!), shop in the Historic Third Ward and Bay View Neighborhood and on Historic King Drive, explore Brady Street, go to the West Allis Farmers Market or the Tosa Farmers Market, ride a Bublr bike to skip the hunt for parking, catch a free concert at Jazz in the Park, eat & shop your way through the Milwaukee Night Market, watch the pig races at the Wisconsin State Fair, buy homemade fudge you saw them pour at Kilwin's at Bay Shore, or get a candy apple as big as your head in Cedarburg from Amy's Candy Kitchen, do a short cruise on Milwaukee Boat Tours or Edelweiss or rent your own kayak at Milwaukee Kayak Company and race your friends to Lakefront Brewery for fish fry, watch a show in the Milwaukee Theater District, watch them Light the Hoan Bridge every night, bar hop in the Deer District, see the Milwaukee Bucks or Milwaukee Brewers play (cheer for your favorite Famous Racing Sausage), see the leaves change colors in Autumn from the Basilica at Holy Hill, cross country ski in the Milwaukee County Parks, watch the Pride Parade, go to street festivals like Locust Street Festival, Brady Street Days, Summer Solstice, Juneteenth Day, and Mitten Fest; immerse yourself in the ethnic festivals - Polish Fest, Greek Fest, Serbian Fest, Croatian Fest, Bastille Days, German Fest, Black Arts Fest MKE, Irish Fest, Festa Italiana, and Mexican Fiesta; if it's Friday, you MUST get a fish fry; attend a DJ set or dance party at Zocalo Food Park and try all the food trucks; skate at the Pettit National Ice Center (you may see Olympic athletes!); spend a day at the Milwaukee County Zoo; hike at the Schlitz Audubon Center and meet their rescued raptors; try all the cheese curds everywhere - cold or deep fried, with or without dipping sauce; golf, downhill ski, or horseback ride at Lake Geneva Resort & Spa; experience the great art offerings at John Michael Kohler Art Museum and The Art Reserve in Sheboygan, and then walk barefoot on the squeaky silver sand at Terry Andrew Kohler Beach (maybe the surfers will be out!); camp or glamp at Jellystone Park in Caledonia and Lazy Days Campground in West Bend; see and tour the Frank Lloyd Wright architecture at The Burnham Block Homes and the Greek Orthodox Church in Milwaukee, and at SC Johnson in Racine, and Taliesen in Spring Green; see the Big Bang Fireworks at the lakefront on July 3rd; tour the Forest Home Cemetery and experience a re-enactment of early settlers who founded Milwaukee; experience the oldest building in Wisconsin in Saint Joan of Arc Chapel - a taste of the 1600s; measure up to the statues of the Bronze Fonz and Da Crusher; and take photos!
If you could only eat one Milwaukee staple food forever, what would it be?
Cheese Curds!
